Engineered Wood Floors
Engineered wood is better than solid hardwood at dealing with moisture. Its plywood base is dimensionally stable, meaning that it warps and flexes less easily upon contact with moisture than solid wood.
Engineered wood is an excellent choice for areas where solid hardwood cannot be installed, like in basements, over concrete floors or over radiant heating systems. At around 3/8” to 1/2", engineered wood is slightly thinner than solid hardwood and cannot be refinished as many times as hardwood.
